One final note...

I just wanted to leave you with a little more than our customary list of items for class.  First, it's been a pleasure and a privilege to be your Sophomore English teacher.  Though I'm often...forceful, you have always risen to the occasion as a class.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you for that.  You remind me that there is a great deal of hope for the future.  Not only that, there is also excitement to be had about the wonderful and extraordinary accomplishments you will all achieve.  Though there are a thousand poems and songs that come to mind, I'd like to leave you with these words by Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon:

(from Change)

You've got to stand up
And take a look around you.
Then, a look way up to the sky.
And when your deepest thoughts are broken,
Keep on dreamin' boy,
Cause when you stop dreamin' it's time to die.
And as we all play parts for tomorrow,
Some ways we'll work and some ways we'll play.
But, I know we can't all stay here forever,
So, I want to write my words on the face of today.

Write your words today.  Prepare for your life tomorrow.
Have a wonderful summer, and I'll see you soon.
