Guidelines For Writing the SIFTT Poetry Analysis

1. Pages are numbered and have last name at top-right corner (ex. Fisher 1)
2. Heading at top-left corner: Your name, English Period #, Date, SIFT Draft 1
3. Skip a space- title is centered and should read 'Poetry Analysis for Song Title
4. Next line should read 'by composer name'
5. The paper should be written in 10 or 12 point legible font, double-spaced, 7 -10 paragraphs in length (at least 3 typed pages and no more than 5)
6. Page Break at the end of the paper
7. Last page(s) should have the heading at the top-left corner 'Appendix A'
8. Skip a space- write the title of the song
9. Below, write the name of the composer
10. (if necessary) Below, write the performer's name if it is different than the composer
11. SINGLE-SPACED, PLEASE! Type the lyrics to the song, including line numbers
12. Note: if you have a particularly long song, you may use double-columns
