Classwork:
  1. Do Now: Planning Sheet
  2. Then: Quiz #23 review
  3. After: Requirements for Draft 3 of the Research Paper
  4. Preview Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Homework:
  • Finish Draft 3 of the Research Paper
  • Last day for late work is Friday, March 2
Wednesday, February 29
Classwork:
  1. Do Now: Mini-reflection on research process
  2. After: Extended time for reflection writing OR Edit 3rd draft
  3. During: Individual student conferences
  4. Then: distribute parent forms for Slaughterhouse Five
Homework:
  • Last Day for late work is Friday, March 2
  • Create Draft 4 if desired after conferences
Friday, March 2
Classwork:
  1. Do Now: Bombing of Dresden video
  2. After: collect parent forms for Slaughterhouse Five and begin reading OR writing time for Draft 4
  3. During: Individual student conferences
  4. Then: discuss procedure for reading Slaughterhouse Five for next week and over the break
Homework:
  • Finish writing Draft 4 of the research paper (if desired after student conference)
  • Read Slaughterhouse Five  at your own pace...for now.

  2. Then: 30 minute reading session
  3. After: Assign groups to formulate ideas for Slaughterhouse Five activity
  4. Next: Evaluate group ideas and introduce first essay topic

  • Gather Materials for 3rd Quarter Portfolio (Due after the break)

  2. After: Character Trading Card Activity
  3. Then: groups finalize ideas for Slaughterhouse Five activity
  4. Next: Review requirements for 3rd quarter portfolio

  • Continue Reading Slaughterhouse Five over the break to page 136 (at least)
  • Create 3rd quarter portfolio (due upon return in the 4th quarter)
  • Watch Biography video about Kurt Vonnegut- arrive to class next quarter ready to write!
