Quarter 3, Week 7

Monday, February 11
Classwork
  1. Do Now: Quiz #21: ir, inter, intra, macro, mal, meta, mono
  2. Then: In your journal, write sample introductory paragraph  (click here to see a graphic organizer)
  3. After: Review This Week in Language Arts
Homework
  • In your Journal, write a possible conclusion paragraph following the guidelines on the last page of your packet (due tomorrow)
  • Continue working on slideshow (presentations will be next week in Biology classes)
  • Continue researching sources using EBSCO and Google Scholar (a minimum of five are due on your annotated bibliography in class on Thursday)
Tuesday, February 12
Classwork
  1. Do Now: In your journal, write two paragraphs using the ideas from your "subtopic 1" slide
  2. After: Setup Draft 1 of the Genetics Research Paper and begin typing introduction and conclusion paragraphs from journal
  3. Next: view sample paper and In-Text Citation samples in the Purdue University MLA Powerpoint
  4. During/After: Check for understanding (all students should have the Draft 1 document created and at least two paragraphs, followed by a Works Cited on a separate page)
  5. After: Student choice- continue working on Draft 1 (due March 8) if slideshow for Biology is finished or finish slideshow (performed next week, 2/19-22) or continue finding at least five sources for annotated bibliography (due Thursday/Friday in class)
  6. Reminder: Presentations are next week in Biology class and HSA Reading will be occuring in English Language Arts class
Homework
  • Finish annotated bibliography and slideshow for check during class on Thursday
  • Continue typing next two paragraphs in Draft 1 of the research paper

Classwork
  1. Do Now: In your journal, write two paragraphs using the ideas from your "subtopic 2" slide
  2. Next: View sample Works Cited in the Purdue University MLA Powerpoint
  3. Writing Workshop: Body Paragraphs (Students should have at least introductory paragraph, body paragraphs 1-4 and conclusion paragraphs written.  At least two sources should be used in the paper so far and correctly documented on the Works Cited page.)
  4. During/After: Check for understanding- Annotated Bibliography, Slideshow, Draft 1 of the research paper created on GoogleDocs with at least 6 paragraphs
Homework
  • Practice presenting with slideshow for Biology classes next week (Remember- more pics and paraphrases, fewer words!)
  • Complete take-home Quiz #22: multi, neo, paleo, para, penta, per poly (due by next Friday @ 2:15)
  • Enrichment: Vocabtest.com, Unit 12: Learning Definitons
